Hey there!

This month for Malvie Magazine’s Artist Edition, I am happy to share with you that my self-portrait series has made the cover! It’s such a exciting part of my journey as a self-portrait and portrait photographer to be able to make the cover. I have to thank my retoucher, Elena, for the gorgeous work she did with these photos. It’s so nice to work with people who can take what you have created and bring it to the next level. And Elena really did that.

About the Editorial

The editorial is titled “Feathers of a Phoenix”. For those who may not know or remember, a phoenix is an immortal bird. The phoenix is associated with the sun and is said to obtain new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor or by combusting in flames and being born again.

I love the symbolism behind this mythological (or is it?) animal. It’s always been a reminder to me that like a phoenix we too have the power and ability to rise again, anew, stronger, wiser, from anything seeming obstacle that we are faced with.

As a Portrait Photographer

I believe that everyone has the right to shine in the brilliance of who they are. Each portrait session that I have with my clients is to curate an experience and day in which they get to fully bask in the celebration of themselves.

Like Peter Lindbergh, I too believe that true beauty comes from within. It stems from self-acceptance and authenticity. You are only responsible for being the best, most radiant version of you you can be. Life is a cyclical process of personal growth and if we choose to, with each cycle we can renew into a grander version of who we once were.

You are the Sun, remember that.
