The Importance of art in the home (spaces close to your heart)

You look at a piece of art and it makes you stop. Its silent command makes you pause and have a moment with it. Sometimes it's the subject of the work that pulls you in. Sometimes it's the way the colors dance and communicate around the work of art. Sometimes it's the brilliant artistry that captivates you.

Though at first invisible, this connection is bridged by the energetic exchange that happens between you and the art.  As a result you begin to feel that energy move through you as emotion. You then smile, wince, scoff, feel peace, love or anger, but whatever it is that arises in you is a gift of that art because it brings you into connection with yourself. You may find yourself asking questions and reflecting on your own experiences, I call that a deep dive.

The dive is the magic. In those dives you will get reflections of who you are and what you value. When you dive you don’t also find treasure. But you will always find parts of you that matter. connection is a reflection of who you are. A reflection of what you value.

Having art in your home is important. It’s a way for you to infuse the core of who you are into your space and dive daily, consciously or unconsciously. The art you choose invokes your home with a particular energy, with a sense of meaning and with the power to foster deeper human connections.

You allow others who are invited into your home to also connect with you in a deeper way. As an unspoken extension of you, the work of art sparks conversations where you and others can reflect on experiences you’ve each had together. It all starts with the art you choose to have in your home.

Imagine two people (the owner of the home and her guest) sitting in the above image have a coffee together or a glass of wine, taking in the view and then looking up at the image. Her guests asking her about the story behind the image. And as she explains the intent behind the image was created a story about lifting ourselves through our challenges, they begin to have a deeper conversation about time they have each had to do the same. In that moment, the art has acted as a catalyst for them to dive deeper within each other. How beautiful is that?

Please share with me what feel is important about having art? What’s your connection with home and art?

It doesn’t have to be a super deep answer ;) I’d love to hear what you think & feel about the subject.
