What is Art?
When I think about art, I think about beauty. I think about the way a song, a painting, a dance makes me feel. Art for me, is about self-expression. It’s about the emotional connection shared from the artist into the work and then with the viewer or participant(s). Art is a result of you putting your creativity, personal expression and imagination into action. And this action is amplified by the intention you wish to share through that work/action. The result of these three inputs can create something beautiful or express ideas or feelings important to the artist.
I believe that art is not just a piece that is hung on a wall but so much more. The way we cook is art. The way we walk is art. The way we love others is art. The way we live is art. There are no limits to where creativity, personal expression and imagination can combine to create something beautiful or share a message.
You can learn a lot from a person from what which art they find speaks to them, what they find beauty in, what they are emotionally drawn to. Like when you are with someone and they find the beauty in something you may consider ugly, you then realize how compassionate they are (or how they really like ugly things LOL).
In a life that is so short but can be so sweet (and also painful), I hope that you take intentional time to create art in your daily life. Because without your personal stroke of beauty added to the palette of life we may never get the experience the creativity, self-expression and imagination that you have to offer.
Your turn:
What does art mean to you?
How are you practicing artful living in your life?
As always I’d really love to hear your feedback and thoughts on the subject, so please leave a comment below x
